Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital - Business Office is looking for a full-time Patient Accounts Rep. and a Floating Receptionist

Position Overview
Responsible for a variety of office/clerical tasks relating to patient accounts; including but not limited to notifying guarantors and/or third party payors of delinquent accounts to solicit payment, keeping records of collections and status of accounts, helping patients/guarantors understand their financial responsibilities, providing information and assisting eligible self-pay and under-insured patients with application to various state and facility assistance programs. Arranges for the efficient and orderly registration of patients. Ensures that the patient information is collected and that patients are aware of policies and procedures. Interviews incoming patients or representatives and enters information required for admission into the computer database. Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Respond to inquiries concerning account balances, third-party payments, etc., from patients, guarantors, and/or third-party payers in a timely manner.
· Maintains a professional working relationship with the patients, insurance companies, government agencies, and third-party payers.
· Communicates to the Business Office Manager those accounts that need to be sent to the collection agency after all collection efforts have been exhausted by the hospital.
· Compiles hospital bills, completes appropriate forms, and submits claims to proper agencies/insurance companies as assigned.
· Responsible for creating appointment reservations (pre-registration & confirmation).
· Responsible for preregistering patients for scheduled admissions and outpatient procedures and verifying insurance eligibility.
· Responsible for pre-admitting visiting physician clinic patients.
· Responsible for obtaining signatures on the Consent authorizations and ensuring that the signature is obtained.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
· High School graduate or equivalent
· Patient and pleasant personality; ability to exhibit cooperation and flexibility; works well with a variety of people
· Must have excellent customer service and phone etiquette skills
· Detail-oriented and self-motivated with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
· Capable of maintaining composure in stressful situations
