Fully restored Casting Specialties 12” drill press.  The drill press and the motor were both completely disassembled, cleaned, de-rusted, stripped to bare metal and painted.  It has new wiring, a new dust proof switch and a fresh belt.  The bearings in the drill press were replaced and the motor bushings were cleaned and lubed.   I also purchased a period correct, NOS in the box, Craftsman chuck with key to put on it.  It runs like a top.

These presses were sold as raw castings and hand made as instructional projects in machinist classes, typically at vocational schools.  As such, they’re pretty unusual.  They’re a basic, no frills machine with robust castings.  Tho this one has a depth stop, a nice feature.  They date from the 30s thru the 50s, so this one is at least 70 years old.  If your’re in the market for a drill press, head on down to the box store and look at a drill press there - ask yourself what it will look like in 70+ years.  Then come test drive this one.  It’s available in my shop until sold and you’re more than welcome to try it out.
