Join Our Team as Director of Public Works – City of Ellis

The City of Ellis (pop. 1,958) is looking for a dedicated and skilled leader to oversee our Public Works Department. As Director of Public Works, you'll manage a team of ten while playing a hands-on role in essential city services, including sanitation, water and wastewater utilities, streets, recycling, parks, cemeteries, and more.

This is a working supervisor position, meaning you’ll lead by example, working alongside your team as needed. Additional responsibilities include:

• ·       Building inspections & code enforcement
• ·       Approving building permits
• ·       Attending City Council & Planning Commission meetings
• ·       Serving as Zoning Officer & Cemetery Sexton

Qualifications required include:

• CDL preferred. Must be able to obtain a valid CDL during employment if do not have a CDL prior to employment.
• Must be at least 18 years of age by application date.
• Drug/alcohol testing required after provisional offer of employment.
• Residency required within 30 miles of the Ellis City limits.
