Fancy
Looking for that Golden milk cow that the whole family will fall in love with? Meet Fancy!
Fancy is a coming 2-year-old 1/2 Montbeliarde, 1/4 Jersey, and 1/4 Holstein. I pulled her blood on January 8th 2025 and sent to Central Star to confirm she is disease tested NEGATIVE and is confirmed A1A1 beta-casein. Fancy calved for the first time on December 31st 2024 for a New Year’s Calf. She calved completely unassisted and had a 40 pound bull calf. She did stay with her calf for 24 hours and then was taken off. The calf has already been REHOMED.
Fancy has been an easy-going heifer from the very beginning. She came to me completely unhandled and has done extremely well with training. This is the heifer I would want in my herd for the rest of her time! Fancy can easily milk out in the open by the garage like I usually do, but with this weather all the cows have been moved down to the barn for the last two weeks.
Fancy is the first one to meet you at the gate for milking, stands tied, milks out fast, does not kick for the milker, lead broke, and is good in all four quarters. She does raise her foot to let you know she is almost done milking. Never kicked the milker off but just something she always does. She has probably the best bag I have personally seen on a first-time heifer. All four teats are set evenly, a big bag with no lumps or abrasions, and all four quarters milk out equally. Fancy is effortless to lead and milk, as I would trust her with a beginner learning to milk on her. She is not the pushy type and always does what is asked.
Fancy is currently producing 6–6.5 gallons a day at only 2.5 weeks fresh. She still has some edema that will get better in the following weeks. I would not be surprised if she reached that 7+ gallons a day at her 8-week mark on post calving. She is a cow that is going to stay fat on air! Most of the time, my first time heifers lose quite a bit of weight as their body changes over to milking. She is not one of them! She has actually gained weight since calving. Furthermore, she is currently eating corn and protein pellets while she is milking, a flake of alfalfa twice a day, and has access to an all can eat buffet of brome hay. Effortless keeper and is going to thrive on grass this spring!
Fancy is the cow you want in your pasture! I use her milk for raw milk, butter, cream, cheese, and caramel sauce. I would pick her milk over any other cows in the herd right now for cream separating or cheese making. She has a really nice thick cream line. She is on the smaller side, easy keeper, my most gentle heifer, and overall probably my top favorite cow I have had the pleasure of training. I am not in a rush to move this cow, and I really wouldn’t mind if she stayed around. I am offering her now if there is someone that would love this breed and appreciate this cow! With her breeding, she will be an easy one to breed back.
