Job Summary (Overall Purpose of the Position)

The purpose of the Energy Analyst position is to assist customers of Midwest Energy in the safe, productive and efficient use of energy. This position promotes Midwest Energy, its marketing programs, energy efficiency, public safety, and load building.

Job Duties - Responsibilities – Tasks

  1. Actively engage with customers to understand their energy needs
  2. Formulate and execute energy services procedures (e.g., HVAC load calculations, energy ratings) to enhance customer value and encourage product adoption.
  3. Survey current energy use and develop cost-benefit analyses, highlighting energy conservation measures and load management solutions to drive product interest and sales.
  4. Design, implement, and promote financing plans, rebates, load management, and other campaigns to create attractive offers for customers and increase product demand.
  5. Expand Midwest Energy's Reach: Collaborate with civic clubs, special interest groups, and other organizations to promote Midwest Energy’s products, programs, and services to potential customers, driving awareness and sales opportunities.
  6. Promote safe working habits and enforce all safety rules and regulations of Midwest Energy, Inc. Lead by example in safety compliance and take corrective action on safety violations, defective equipment, and any other practice that may adversely affect a safe working environment.
  7. Keep informed regarding new developments, trends, and best practices in relevant field. Recommend changes, initiatives, etc. to management for effective processes and procedures within the company.
  8. Keep apprised of changes and developments in pertinent local, State and Federal laws, ordinances and rules, and take appropriate action to stay in compliance with said rules, regulations, etc.
  9. Develop and maintain internal and external working relationships for maximum effectiveness in serving Midwest Energy customers and communities. Ensure communication and exchange of information so as to present a positive corporate image, both internally and externally. Keep management informed of issues that might impact the work environment.

Education and Experience

  1. Associate or Technical Degree in HVAC or Electrical Technology, or equivalent experience is required.
  2. A minimum of three years of experience in industries such as utilities, HVAC, electrical, building energy, residential construction, or related areas.

Key Competencies

  1. Sales-Oriented Mindset: Ability to identify sales opportunities and convert customer interactions into product sales.
  2. Knowledge of (or ability to acquire within a reasonable time) relevant codes and standards (National Fuel Gas Code, American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Standards, National Electric Safety Code).
  3. Must obtain RESNET Home Energy Ratings certification within one year.
  4. Must obtain infrared thermography certification within two years.
  5. Strong customer service skills, with the ability to understand customer needs and match them with appropriate Midwest Energy solutions.
  6. Proficient in developing and maintaining customer relationships, enhancing brand loyalty and repeat business.
  7. Effective communication skills to clearly convey the benefits of Midwest Energy products and services to customers, civic groups, and community members.
  8. Demonstrates excellent oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively adapt to various audiences (schools, civic organizations) and topics (safety, energy efficiency), ensuring the message is clear and engaging.
  9. Analytical skills for calculating energy savings and presenting these insights to drive product interest and purchase decisions.
  10. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and the ability to effectively prioritize duties.
  11. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite for preparing sales reports, presentations, and customer proposals.
  12. Must hold and maintain a valid Kansas Driver’s License to engage with customers in the field.
