Job Summary

Our Alignment Technicians specialize in precision alignments for semi-tractors and trailers. This role helps maintain the safety and performance of heavy-duty vehicles by aligning wheels and tires to manufacturer specifications and industry standards/regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

·        Communicate with customers to understand their needs. Upon inspection, discuss recommended maintenance, estimated labor, and total pricing with drivers and Fleet Managers prior to beginning work. Provide updates along the way as necessary.

·        Inspect tires, wheels, suspension, steering, axle components, as well as the chassis and frame to understand the alignment issues, wear, or damage.

·        Repair or replace worn or damaged parts such as axles, tie rods, bushings, shocks, springs, bolts, bearings, etc. as needed to complete alignments.

·        Ensure that all critical parts are examined.

·        Perform repairs, replacements, or maintenance as needed. Test to ensure repairs are completed correctly and according to manufacturer specifications.

·        Ensure accurate documentation of each job including repairs, labor, and any parts used.

·        Follow all safety procedures and protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and reporting safety hazards to supervisor.

·        Work closely with the Shop & Parts Managers, Service Writers, and other technicians to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.

·        Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities:

·        Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak professionally and courteously with customers and staff.

·        Ability to understand the needs of a customer.

·        Strong attention to detail.

·        Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

·        Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.

·        Ability to read service/repair manuals and work orders.

·        Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.

·        Mechanical/alignment repair knowledge and skills.

·        Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software preferred.

Education & Experience:

·        High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical or vocational training is preferred.

·        2 or more years in heavy-duty truck and trailer alignment or related field.

·        National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence certification for area of expertise is preferred.

·        Successful completion of on-the-job training required.

Physical Requirements:
The minimum physical requirements for this position include:

·        Ability to inspect vehicles to determine repairs needed. Adequate vision required to inspect work.

·        Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

·        Ability to lift 80 lbs.

·        Prolonged periods of standing.
