Description

Rory

Meet Rory! She is A1A2, BLV, BVD, & JHONES negative. She is a full montbeliarde cow that is 2 years and freshened for the first time on August 17th 2024 with no assistance (The calf has already been rehomed).
She is currently producing 6.25–6.5 gallons a day on twice a day milking in the morning and evening. All 4 quarters are in working order and no mastitis. They all give out an equal amount and her bag is centered nicely with no lumps, bumps, abrasions, or scars. She does have some massive teats that perfectly set and perfect for hand milking.
If you have been looking for this breed SPECIFICALLY…this will most likely be one of my last cows to offer from this dairy as we do not have any left for the rest of the year and maybe most of the next year. The breed is renowned for tough feet and strong udders.
Montbéliarde is placed in the first rank for its breeding qualities and functional characteristics:
* Resistance to mastitis (very low cell counts)
* Fertility (good success rate in artificial insemination)
* Longevity (24% with 5 or more lactation)
* Calving ease (25% of crossbreeding with the Charolais, no calving problems)
* Montbeliarde milk has excellent cheese-making value (for making gruyere) because of its high level of protein content and a high frequency of Kappa Casein B variants.
Rory is halter broke, broke to lead, meets you at the gate for milking, stands tied, she is more of a dominant cow in my herd with my tiny jerseys but does well with cows her size, is a slow walker to and back from being milked, and an easy keeper. Would like to see someone get her that has some dairy cow experience and can handle a cow of this size.
She is currently getting grain while being milked which is about 22% protein, has access to grass and a grass bale 24/7, and then gets an alfalfa flake after milking.
Clarissa is located in Lindsborg Kansas at JEM Farms. Call or text Emma at 785-294-1702. Come out and meet her and milk her with us!! I do have delivery options as well and have a hauler going all over.
