Small Arms Technologies Suppressors employ Cool-Core Technology™ which allows cool air to flow into the suppressor between the carbon fiber exterior and the baffle stack that heats up during firing. Heat creates pressure inside the air chamber forcing the heat out through the vent holes and away from the core. The end result is the only suppressorS that remain cool enough to be handled with bare hands even after repeated rapid firing. Additionally, Cool-Core Technology™ allows the hot baffle stack to cool much more rapidly than other suppressors greatly increasing the life of Small Arms Technology Suppressors. Other Suppressors and the use of suppressor wraps keep the heat contained in the core. Firing while the core is hot and at its weakest point causes the suppressor core to deteriorate at a much faster rate.

A wipe is a replaceable baffle usually made from a polypropylene or polyurethane material (orange rubber disk). These disks are generally found closer to the exit point where gases are at a lower pressure and temperature.

When the weapon is fired, the bullet punches through the wipe exiting the suppressor on its way down range. The perforation made in the wipe exactly matches the bullet’s diameter creating a reasonably tight seal adding considerable resistance to the propellant gases. The wipe is usually good for 50 or more rounds. If you have shot with a silencer before you will notice that the first shot is much louder than the shots following. This is called "first round pop" and its when the oxygen inside the suppressor is burning up. The wipe helps reduce the sound of the "first round pop".

HOW TO CHANGE THE WIPE

*NOTE- THE SUPPRESSOR CAN BE USED WITHOUT A WIPE AND WORKS GREAT. THE WIPE JUST MAXIMIZES THE DECIBEL REDUCTION AND REDUCES "FIRST ROUND POP".

Changing out our wipes is incredibly simple. Take the torx wrench provided and remove the wipe disk from the cap and replace it with a new one.

The wipe material is 1/8″ thick reinforced silicone sheet (McMaster-Carr PN 3635K17)

Pistol wipe disk punch 15/16" diameter (McMaster-Carr PN 3427A23)

Rifle wipe disk punch 1" diameter (McMaster-Carr PN 3427A24)

Wipes may be replaced by a dealer or users can repair their silencers; they just can’t manufacture and stockpile silencer parts. Making and replacing wipes 1:1 is acceptable. You cannot make them for other people or have more than one at a time. The old wipe should be destroyed before a new one is made.

Per BATF regulations Ranger Reds Trading Post does not sell replacement wipes. This guide DOES NOT constitute legal advice and firearms laws change regularly. Please consult your dealer or an attorney for guidance with all laws and regulations.
