First Care Pharmacy is seeking applicants for a PRN or Part-Time Pharmacy Technician.
The Pharmacy Technician performs clinical and clerical duties within the Pharmacy and serves as a liaison between patients, providers, and other members of the pharmacy team by providing patients with friendly, efficient service to ensure prescriptions are accurately filled and delivered in a timely manner.
First Care Clinic is a very busy clinic offering medical, dental, behavioral health, in addition to First Care Pharmacy services. Therefore, applicants must have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Strong computer skills are also needed to manage daily duties.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Kansas Pharmacy Technician License.
- 1-2 years of experience preferred, but not required.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certification or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) Certification required.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate cash register, handle cash and other tenders of payment such as vouchers, debit and credit cards, and balance registers.
- Answer telephone, respond to questions and requests, and seek guidance from a coworker or supervisor, if assistance is needed.
- Receive patient prescriptions and data entry to accurately count and fill prescriptions.
- Bill prescription insurances and, if necessary, troubleshoot rejected claims.
- Assist in ringing up and delivering medications to patients’ curbside.
- Order and receive drug inventory and supplies. Verify quantities received to invoices.
- Assist with the completion of inventory processes per the Pharmacy Inventory Management Protocol.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and regulations.
- Must be able to document in a neat, legible manner and be able to spell medical terminology correctly.
- Must exhibit initiative and sound judgment in the absence of specific orders.
- Must exhibit professional demeanor by being helpful, courteous, and efficient when dealing with other employees or outside agencies.
- Ability to prioritize tasks to provide appropriate, efficient, and quality patient care.
- Ability to anticipate and react calmly in emergency situations.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact with unsatisfied patients and coworkers effectively and respectfully.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure.
- Strong time management, priority setting, work delegation and work organization skills.
- Ability to follow written policies and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and use good judgment.
- Knowledge of standard office machines including copier, fax, multi-line phones, printers, scanners, etc.
- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft and Office 365 programs.
- Ability to work as a productive and effective team member, be flexible, and adapt to needs/priorities.
