Description

Quilting will be the topic of the upcoming program at the Trego County Historical Society Museum of Sunday, September 8.  Valerie Bothell of Wichita will be presenting a program “Crazy Quilting – Victorian Scrapbooks and Beyond” at the museum starting at 2 p.m.

Valerie was about 11 years old when she began embroidering. She found a red Christmas tin in the hall closet filled with an embroidery hoop and thread and the rest is history!

In 1997, Valerie began teaching weekly classes in all needle art forms. These classes ranged from smocking, tatting, silk ribbon embroidery and crazy quilting. Most of the classes she teaches focus on crazy quilting and she always looks forward to any opportunity to share her love of crazy quilting.

She has written three books with C&T Publishing, Quilting … Just a Little Bit Crazy in 2014, Joyful Daily Stitching in 2017, and Joyful Stitch Combinations: 350 Embroidery Designs - Seams and Samplers in 2022.   Her second book was made into a perpetual calendar in 2019.

Examples for her work may be found by visiting her website at www.valeribothell.com or her Facebook page, Joyful Embellishments, where she posts daily inspirational stitches.

We hope you will be able to join us for this interesting program on crazy quilting.  For more information, contact the Trego County Historical Society at 785-743-2964.
