Position Overview
Responsible for direction of resident care in the Long-Term Care setting. Manages licensed clinical personnel. Consults with staff, physicians, management team on nursing problems and interpretation of facility policies to ensure resident needs are met. Develops performance improvement activities for LTC. Assists in formulating budget. Assures an atmosphere of teamwork. Places priority on residents and families.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Plans, implements and controls the annual budget for LTC.
· Responsible for LTC decision making and policy formulation.
· Assures staff ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Assures appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the resident and family regarding pain management. Document how completed.
· Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
· Coordinates and directs resident care and education by monitoring care plans and assisting licensed nurses to improve the quality of care rendered.
· Oversees the assessment of all residents and the completion and updating the Minimum Data Sets and care plans. Demonstrates knowledge of MDS.
· Supervises long term care staff in their daily work.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
· Nursing facility license required or ability to obtain in 6 months.
· Current Registered Nurse Licensure in the State of Kansas, BSN preferred.
· Current BLS Certification
· Ability to read and communicate effectively, with strong written and verbal skills.
· Intermediate computer knowledge with ability to learn systems used.
