Hays Hurricanes Swim Club

We are seeking a dedicated Head Swimming Coach to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in swimming, a passion for teaching, and the ability to work well with all skill levels to help swimmers ages 5-18yrs meet their competitive and personal swimming goals.

Job Responsibilities:

-       Plan, organize and conduct practice sessions to improve swimmers’ skills, techniques, and overall team performance

-       Assist students in improving their physical fitness through swimming & dry land exercises

-       Foster a positive and inclusive team environment that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork and personal growth

-       Enter swimmers into swim meet program software

-       Accompany team to swim meets

-       Ensure safety and well-being of all team members during practices & meets by following proper safety protocols and guidelines

-       Communicate with team board members and parents

-       Prepare swimmers for competitive events

-       Educate swimmers on proper techniques and safety measures

-       Analyze swimmers performance to provide constructive feedback and encouragement

-       Mentor and motivate swimmers to achieve their full potential

-       Collaborate with other coaching staff to organize and oversee practices

-       Oversee coaching staff schedule

-       Monitor team member attendance

-       Maintain equipment and ensure it is in good working order

-       Performs additional duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

-       Previous experience in sports coaching, particularly in swimming

-       Dedication and enthusiasm for working with children to help them improve their competitive performance

-       An attitude of inclusion and team building

-       Ability to educate and inspire students of all ages and skill levels

-       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

 

Requirements:

-       Experience as a coach or competitive swimmer

-       Knowledge of swimming techniques, safety procedures and training methods

-       High School Diploma or GED

-       CPR & Water Safety Instruction Certified

-       USA Swimming Coach Certification (must obtain prior to first meet)

-       Ability to work evenings and weekends as required

 

Pay:

-       Starting pay $12/hr

-       Mileage reimbursement & lodging as needed

 

Practice Schedule:

August – May

o   6:30-8:15pm, Monday-Thursday

 

Summer (subject to change)

o   8:15am-10:00am (M, W, Fri)

o   6:30-8:15pm (Mon-Thurs)

-       Must be available to travel to meets on weekends (schedule varies each month, will be posted months in advance)
