Leash trained: Amaya is getting better about using the leash.  She is a puller and wants to be the pace setter in the group.  
She currently uses a gentle leader and that works well.  
Kennel trained: Yes
Energy level: Medium

Amaya wants to be with her people.  She bonds quickly to women and warms up to men once they earn her trust.  She has a curious nature about her and will investigate things when she feels relaxed.  She loads up in the truck without difficulty and makes a great copilot.  She is treat motivated and will sit and shake for a treat.  She prefers to be in the home environment.  

Behavioral issues: She wants what other dogs have.  If there is a resource guarded in the home would recommend separating the dogs before letting them have toys or food to keep everyone safe.  It is unknown why but Amaya is intimidated whenever someone approaches her with anything in their hands (especially a hose or wood).  She will cower away until she knows it is safe.  

Medical issues:  has a sensitive stomach.  Does well if she is fed Iams Lg breed food.  She has been successful taking 40mg of Fluoxetine for anxiety daily. 

Amaya came from Dodge City, KS animal shelter.  She had run out of time and a great family stepped up to foster her.  She has had DNA completed and is 53% “pit” adopters would need to comply with BSL if it’s in effect in their community.  

Adoption fee:  SPONSORED FOR THE RIGHT FIT.  $135 and covers the cost of Distemper, Parvo, Flu & Boradatella Vaccines. If old enough, a Rabies vaccine and a Heartworm test along with preventative.  Dogs are wormed and microchipped and spayed or neutered.  This fee also helps to cover any cost of travel getting to our rescue and around the state to foster homes and vet visits while in our care.
