Handsome, smart, friendly, walks well on a leash, completed and graduated from Basic Obedience Class at a 2 week Board And Train, isn’t intimidated by objects in his environment including oxygen tanks, oxygen concentrators, wheelchairs, or walkers.  He can “stop”, “sit”, “wait”, “heel”, “shake”, “lay down”, “off”, and is a quick learner.  
    He has visited several local nursing homes and made so many friends at Sutherlands and several other retail stores.  But we still can’t find Draco a place to call home.  Our sweet boy is back in boarding when he wasn’t a good match for his last applicant.  Boarding isn’t ideal for any dog but for such a spirited boy like Draco it’s especially hard on him.

Energy level: Medium loves to play but isn’t super energetic, knows his boundaries. He’s a well mannered dog once it is established that he can’t do what he wants. 

Draco loves attention.  He needs consistent boundaries and is treat motivated.  He has a heart of gold and just wants loved. He gives the best hugs. He knows how to stop, heel, sit, shake, and stay for a short period of time.  He is a quick learner.  

Behavioral issues: Draco needs a strong handler who doesn’t let him get away with running the show.  He does mouth at times especially when trying to get his handler’s attention.  He loves stuffies but they don’t last long because they explode.  He enjoys chews produced by RedBarn.  He has been known to chew up his harness when it’s left on without supervision.  

Medical issues:  None known at this time.  

Draco came from Dodge City, KS animal shelter.  He had run out of time and a some generous donors stepped up to pay for his boarding.  He’s looking for his family. He would rock being a copilot for any truck driver or a companion in the right environment without other pets.  

Fees that have been paid cover:  cost of Distemper, Parvo, Flu & Boradatella Vaccines. If old enough, a Rabies vaccine and a Heartworm test along with preventative.  Dogs are wormed and microchipped and spayed or neutered.  This fee also helps to cover any cost of travel getting to our rescue and around the state to foster homes and vet visits while in our care.
