The Ellsworth County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a highly motivated and dedicated individual for a Deputy Sheriff position. We will train the right person however a certified law enforcement officer is preferred. 

Ellsworth County has an excellent benefit package which includes vacation leave, sick leave, paid holidays, employer sponsored health, dental and vision insurance, including KPERS retirement, while offering a competitive starting wage of $18.12 an hour, which may be increased based on training and qualifications.  A wage-step increase is included after a successful completion of a 6-month probationary period. Yearly performance-based wage increases are considered, as well.  All uniforms and equipment are provided.

Applicants are required to be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, a high school diploma/GED, and have no prior felony or disqualifying convictions.

Essential functions include but are not limited to patrolling, issuing citations for traffic infractions, investigating accidents, property, and personal crimes, apprehending and arresting of suspects, serving civil process documents and warrants, and affording court-related security, as needed. Work hours afford a well-constructed schedule with a balance of sizable time off providing every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off.
