1950s era Atlas 6” jointer for sale. This jointer has been completely restored to original condition. It includes the jointer, as well as the original Atlas stand (with dust chute) and the original 1/2 HP Atlas motor. Complete machines like this are hard to find. Ones in this condition? When was the last time you saw one? This is also the second one I’ve restored in the past few months, so I know what to look for and will be happy to explain its use if the buyer would like. There’s a lot of gizmocity going on behind the fence, but its all very simple once ya know how it works.
It has been completely stripped down. By that I mean every nut, bolt, the entire jointer, the stand, the motor - everything. It was all disassembled, de-rusted, painted where appropriate, all bearings (motor and cutter head) were replaced. Lubed and reassembled. The stand even has all the original bolts. I re-wired it with a period correct Cutler Hammer switch and its set up to run on 120. The knives are new. The only thing I haven’t done yet is replace the belt and I’ll have a new one shortly.
It has a small footprint and would make a great home shop jointer, but could also see service in a commercial shop. Check out a new Rigid at the box store for $800, then come and see this one. Ask yourself if the Rigid will be running in 70+ years like this one is. It’s running and you can test drive it before purchase.
The last pic shows the fence mechanism on the first Atlas 6001 I restored because I didn’t have a pic of this one, but they’re identical. If yo notice that the table is different, that’s why.
Asking $550.00. Call or text Brad @ 785-537-9113 to arrange a time to come see it and we’ll work something out.
