JEM Farms if offering a Hereford heifer calf with a Hereford cow. The cow is an older cow weighing 1100 pounds and the calf is 2.5 weeks old weighing 100 pounds. I plan on splitting the calf off in the next few days and shipping the cow out on a load of slaughter cows unless anyone wants the pair. This is not a bad investment as many older pairs are in the 1500-1800 dollar range looking at market reports from sales in the last month. With the price of slaughter cows these days (ours average .80 to .98 a pound) it would not be a bad idea on feeding this cow while having her save you money and raising a nice calf. Everyone does like a good Hereford heifer calf as well so if you wanted to save on milk replacer and let the cow feed the baby until weaning as you put some more weight on the cow it would be a no brainer to make some bucks off this pair. The cow is from Oleen Hereford genetics. My grandpa Brent Johnson in Minneapolis Kansas only runs their genetics of bulls and has owned 25 in the last several years. All of their sites calves have been born alive with no intervention and extremely easy births. Majority of the bulls have lasted years upon years in fertility and health. They have outlived his commercial angus by a long shot. I did vaccinate with the calf with Inforce 3, Bose, and Enrolfux. Currently both are in the grass lot with free choice brome and some grain when I grain the milk cows. Located in Lindsborg Kansas. Call or text 785-294-1702 I can also deliver them if needed!
