Here is a nice early grease gun by Alemite Manufacturing Corp. It measures about 9.5 inches long. Numerous patents are stamped on the tip, including 1475980 which is from 1922 and another from 1928.
The inventor was Oscar Zerk -- inventor of the zerk grease fitting in 1929, so this grease gun predates the common zerk and show how applying lubrication under pressure evolved.
This example is well built and heavy like we might expect of early quality. Some surface rust on the handle, otherwise it is very clean. Happy to answer questions and combine shipping (I have another Alemite grease gun from around WWII, but by that time the company had been acquired by another company). Excellent condition. No rust. Leather gasket shows wear. Thanks!
