PENDING PICK UP NEXT WEDNESDAY!!! YAY! So excited for Mabel to go to her new home with such a sweet lady!!!

PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING! IMPORTANT ALLERGY INFO!

Bear with me here, there is a little bit to know about our special Dog, we want to make sure she goes to a person who understands her special needs so that she doesn't wind up with somebody who can't take care of her AGAIN.

We got Mabel when she was 6 weeks old. We have had her since, except for a brief stay with a woman who was trying to help with Mabel's allergies. Unfortunately the woman got overwhelmed with to many rescues-or something to that effect anyway- and brought Mabel back to us. Of course we weren't just going to let Mabel be taken to a shelter so we told her to just bring her back.

Mabel is just over a year old and has some pretty severe skin allergies. When these allergies are not flaring, Mabel is a BEAUTIFUL, playful dog. However, when her allergies flare, she is miserable and looks downright awful. I am just being honest here. Right now, she looks BAD. And it isnt from lack of care. We just can't take her to the vet to get her the care she needs right now and Vets just don't take payments like they used to.

Right now, Mabel is in a flare which is normal for this time of year for her, but unfortunately our family has exhausted our fixed income on treatments for her and we are again looking for a family who can properly care for Mabel's allergies. SHE  NEEDS HELP! We are desperate!
Treatments NEEDED IMMEDIATELY: Mabel will immediately need a vet visit. She will most likely need a steroid shot, an antibiotic and possibly another allergy injection. We also give her a probiotic twice a day (Which her brand new container will come with her). Mabel currently gets Vet treatment at the Animal Care Hospital here in Great Bend and is up to date on all of her vaccines but will be due for Rabbies in November.
Dr. Mike has Mabel's vet records and I can give you his info if needed, and I have a sheet of paper that came back with Mabel from the time she spent with the woman who was taking care of Mabel (It was supposed to be Mabel's forever home).
Mabel will need to wear a CONE at ALL times until her allergies subside or she will bite herself and scratch herself until she BLEEDS. PLEASE PURCHASE A CONE BEFORE COMING TO PICK HER UP, hers is kinda gross and although we clean it often, it is defintely showing its wear. She does fine in the cone.

A little bit about our girl -ASIDE- from the allergies.
Mabel is a one year old Yellow Dudley Lab. She is AKC registered but Karen, the lady who had her before did not bring her paper work back with her.
Mabel is a VERY good dog. She knows a lot of basic commands (but has a hard time listening to new commands when new people first show up because she gets so excited). Mabel knows SIT, STAY, WAIT FOR IT (put a treat down, say wait for it, and she will wait to take it until you release her by saying "GOOD GIRL". Mabel also knows how to give paw, she can Spin, (she is NOT good at laying down. She just never caught onto that one Haha). Mabel will sit and wait while you pour her food as long as you give her the sit command, and will not get up to get the food until you release her by saying "GOOD GIRL". She is VERY sweet.
Mabel is NON aggressive and RARELY barks. In fact, the only time I have heard her bark is the couple of times i have tried to put her out to potty and went back inside. She likes somebody to stay outside with her while she potties. She does not enjoy staying outside, she loves to be indoors.
To "tell you" that she has to potty she will usually whine at the door, or walk around whining. I pretty much just take her outside every three hours or so.
Mabel is crate trained. She likes to sleep in her crate and we have always crated her when we leave home because she still likes to explore with her mouth! Better safe than sorry!
Mabel also likes her crate door to be kept open during the day so that she can go in and out as she pleases when you are home (she doesn't enjoy being locked out of her crate as it is her bed). We call her crate BED, and when we want her to go to her crate we simply say "Go To Bed" and we usually give her a treat for listening.
Mabel has grown up around my grandkids ranging in age from 8 down to 2. She is very good with them and extremely gentle, but again I would caution you to be careful with NEW kids because she does get excited and jump until she has seen the person a few times. Once she knows the kids she will no longer get so excited and will stop jumping.
Mabel has also grown up around our cats and our neighbors small dog. Mabel only reacts to other dogs if a dog barks at her.
Mabel walks good on a leash but prefers short walks around the block. She isn't a very active dog. Never has been. I once took her to Vets Park, but she got much too excited and wore herself out. I never took her again.
Mabel HATES HATES HATES the car. She doesn't get carsick, but she will fight you HARD to get in. It takes some trickery and you must be pretty strong. I would say that if you are not a very strong person, bring help! Haha.
Mabel weighs about 50 lbs.

Anything of Mabels that you want will go with her. Her toys, her food plastic tub (I always think food stored in a tub is easier to store) and her crate (I believe is an extra large size. It folds flat for travel althought it probably would not fit in a small car or small trunk). She doesn't have spefific blankets that she uses, so you would have to purchase those. We just rotated our extra blankets in her cage. Speaking of blankets, Mabel does NOT like to lay down without a blanket. Mabel has been allowed on our couches, so that may be a habit you would need to break if you don't like your pets on the couch.

I know I am forgetting something, so if you have any questions PLEASE ASK! We are NOT asking a rehoming fee, we are just asking that you take good care of her. She is such a loving beautiful dog.

I am best reached by EMAIL OR PHONE. You can either call or text my phone. If I don't answer try again. I am up late at night, so don't be afraid to call "after hours" .

The sooner Mabel finds a family that can help her the better. She is suffering. We tried to surrender her to the humane society, however they are FULL. If Mabel does not find a good home who can afford her care and who are willing to love her despite her allergies, we will be forced to make a tough decision to put her to sleep to end her suffering. That is how bad it is right now.

ALL pictures EXCEPT the Picture of her LEG (right now) are of what she looks like when her allergies are NOT flaring. When they are under control. Righ now she does look bad. I don't want you to be scared away by that when you see her, because she really is a beautiful dog otherwise.
