St. Francis Equity Exchange is hiring for their Financial Controller position. St. Francis Equity Exchange is a cooperative in NW Kansas with a cardtrol fueling location in Nebraska that specializes in grain storage and marketing, refined fuels, propane, and a service station with satelite cardtrol fueling facility.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on and capable of leading the Cooperative’s financial, accounting, and operational/administrative practices while believing in the spirit of the Cooperative business model.

    What you will do:

    •  Analyze and organize office operations and procedures including accounting, preparation of payrolls, office staff new hire orientation, all employee benefits management, information management, filing, requisition of supplies, and other administrative services.
    • Follow sound business principles in the supervision and coordination of the activities of the Cooperative and use GAAP when dealing with all of the cooperative's financial transactions.
    • Ensure timely data entries into the accounting system
    • Compile and sort documents, invoices, and checks; and substantiates business transactions
    • Balance cooperative transactions, accounts, investments, statements, and spreadsheets
    • Prepare vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records, and continually review all for accuracy
    • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements by recording all necessary payables, receivables, and other accruals.
    • Verify sales tax charges and update accounts receivable
    • Oversee the accurate and timely filing of sales and fuel taxes
    • Receive and process cooperative equity account changes
    • Balance patronage and equity by determining discrepancies among sales analysis, patronage groups and the general ledger
    • Oversee submission of daily deposits
    • Process annual patronage roll by recording discrepancies, generating reports for auditors, entering approved rates and processing checks for payment
    • Balance commodity storage receivables monthly
    • Reconcile bank accounts accurately monthly
    • Retain records in compliance with retention guidelines
    • Assist with preparation for annual meetings
    • Process monthly financial reports and month end closing tasks in advance of board meetings
    • Ensure confidentiality of Cooperative and personnel information
    • Communicate effectively and professionally by verbal and written means with customers, employees and management
    • Administer all human resources programs, employee benefit programs, and administrative procedures
    • Ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of all clerical and personnel records
    • Provide management and leadership to assigned office/administrative employees

    What you will have:

    • Associate's degree in accounting or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, preferred; or from two to five years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Cooperative accounting experience, strongly preferred
    • AgTrax accounting software experience, strongly preferred
