Had intentions of using this truck to pull a fifth wheel camper. She was kind of a sad old girl with a lot of little issues when I got her. I've put over $12,000 in the truck, it runs and drives like a champ, but overheats when pulling.
Work done-
Rebuilt rear end
Tranny pulled and seals replaced, flushed
New brakes all around, new calipers, rotors, and rubber lines up front
Wheel bearings, u-joints, ball joints, pinion seals, oil and trans cooler lines, and lots more little stuff
A/C converted to 134a and blows cold
Window and door lock switches replaced, all working
Aluminum radiator and electric fans
Tires are new Goodyear Wranglers w/ kevlar, $250 each. New spare also.
Heads were pulled and gaskets replaced- the engine is a GM Goodwrench rebuilt 454 with 10k on it, according to previous owner. "Goodwrench Rebuilt" stickers on the valve covers. No internal issues found, block has been tested twice for cracks (sniffer on the radiator cap for exhaust gas) with no leaks found.
As for the overheating issue- I have no idea and neither does Oards Auto, where all the work was done. You figure it out and you've got yourself a sweet deal, if you're into old brown Chevys. Will trade for 89 IROC-Z, blue with white stripes. Maybe other stuff.
