Description

Mega Arms MATEN LR .308 AR-10 AR10 Not DPMS Colt LRWC
$1,750 or best offer

This is a high-quality AR-10 custom built on a Mega Arms billet 7075-T6 aluminum upper and lower receiver set. The MATEN is an extremely rare and difficult to find receiver set. It is the factory black hard anodized treatment with a surface hardness of 60 Rockwell, and features a variety of ambidextrous features for easy left or right hand operation.

The rifle was fired less than 200 rounds since completing the build in fall 2016. It was built meticulously over the course of 18 months with the goal of balancing extreme accuracy in a lightweight, easy-handling hunting platform on a reasonable budget. The barrel was broken in using PPU or Black Hills match grade 168 gr. FMJ ammunition, and then, it was sighted in and the barrel velocities were measured using Hornady A-Max 168 gr. Factory ammunition. That is all this rifle has fired in its lifetime. The barrel velocities for the Hornady A-Max will be included with the documentation that ships with the rifle.

The only reason I am selling this rifle is because I started playing with some other “wildcat” rounds, and have become more comfortable with 6.5 Grendel. It fits all my needs in a hunting rifle cartridge. The AR-15 I built for that particular caliber uses many of the exact same components of this rifle just on a smaller platform. The tradeoff is the ammunition is much more expensive and not nearly as available.

Here are the components in this build:

  • Mega Arms MATEN .308 Billet Upper (M308-0350) – including dust cover.
  • Mega Arms MATEN .308 Billet Ambidextrous Lower (M308-0554) – including the threaded bolt catch pin, ambi-bolt catch/release, take down pins and upper receiver tensioning screw.
  • Mega Arms MATEN .308 Billet Charging Handle w/Logo (M308-0451)
  • Battle Arms Development Ambi Safety Selector Kit with Standard and Short Lever, 90 degree throw
  • Battle Arms Development Extended Magazine Release Button
  • Norgon Drop-In Ambi-Catch for AR Heavy Magazine Release
  • Rock River Arms parts kit, including magazine catch, magazine catch spring, buffer retainer, buffer retainer spring.
  • David Tubb Precision AR-10 CS Buffer Spring
  • DPMS LR-308 Rifle Buffer for A1/A2 Stocks
  • DPMS Receiver Extension Buffer Tube AR-15 A1/A2 Stock
  • Magpul MOE K2 Grip
  • Magpul PRS AR-10 Stock-Gen 2

  • Black Hole Weaponry AR 308 18” Light Profile Rifle-Length Gas System Barrel w/ 5R Rifling
  • WMD NiB-X .308 Bolt Carrier Group Polished
  • SLR Rifleworks Sentry 7 Set Screw Adjustable Gas Block
  • Spike’s Tactical Melonited Black Mil-Spec Rifle-Length Gas Tube and Roll Pin

The retail price of just the components in this build is approaching $3,000. That price does not include the labor investment in building, safety checking and accurizing the rifle. The beauty of .308 Winchester is it offers a variety of cheap, plentiful and accurate ammunition options for shooters. A buyer could also easily switch this to a 6.5 Creedmoor platform by simply switching the barrel and performing a headspace check.

This gun is nearly flawless. I’m incredibly meticulous about the condition of my firearms, and this gun is practically free of any scratches and nicks. It is extremely accurate and totally functional without any known problems or issues. The local gunsmith who advised me on the build was impressed with its features, function and accuracy. The firearm includes many of the manuals and docuentation for the different components of the build. I may be missing some literature, but most is there. I'll also include two Magpul 20-round magazines.

Payment by bank certified check or USPS Money Order will be needed before completing the sale. The buyer is responsible for paying for shipping and insurance costs. The rifle will be package and weighed so the purchaser will pay only the exact shipping cost to his or her FFL dealer.

Recognizing that an AR-10 takes a significant investment in money, I am willing to arrange a bill of sale outlining a reasonable down payment and payment terms, if necessary. The terms of that type of sale must be negotiated in advance of the purchase, and the payment terms must be agreed upon in writing by the buyer and seller. So, please send me a message with your thoughts. I will retain rifle until the buyer has made the payments in full. The firearm must be paid for within the terms of the purchase agreement or I will retain the rifle.

Please notice my feedback. I take pride in offering excellent firearms and related products for sale. You are welcome to call or e-mail me with any questions. I have been building AR platforms, bolt action rifles and even upgrading 1911 pistols for the last eight years. This is an amazing rifle. It just does not fit my needs today.
