Hiring authority and application procedure

1. This is a ¾ time or a full-time position, depending on desires of the successful applicant
2. Pay rate is negotiable, dependent on experience and skill levels of the successful applicant
3. Hiring authority rests with the Palco City Council
4. Supervisory authority is the Mayor of the City of Palco
5. McKenna Center employees work closely with McKenna Center Advisory Board
6. Apply to City Clerk of Palco with application letter, resume, and contact information for 3 references including previous employer(s)
7. Application review starts November 15, but applications will be accepted until position is filled

Required Qualifications

1. Self-starter who needs little or no supervision
2. Good written and oral English communication skills
3. Able to perform physical tasks such as moving tables and chairs and cleaning facilities
4. Good planning and organizational skills
5. Must enjoy working with children, teenagers, and the public
6. Personal-computer literacy, including Microsoft Office
7. Basic financial knowledge

Other Required qualifications

1. U. S. citizen or legal resident of the U. S. with work permit
2. High School graduate
3. At least two years’ relevant work experience with youth or in recreational facilities

Preferred Qualifications

1. Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Phys Ed, Recreation Management, or related field
2. Management experience

Responsibilities

1. Manage McKenna Youth and Activity Center, an entity of the City of Palco, Kansas
2. Select, schedule, and show movies in the McKenna Theater
3. Clean the McKenna facility and maintain neat appearance of adjacent Palco City Park
4. Make sure the McKenna facility is well maintained
5. Organize and supervise youth activities at the McKenna Center
6. Remove snow from McKenna Center sidewalks as needed
7. Keep detailed financial records and manage financial transactions and budget
8. Dress appropriately for various activities
9. Work several evenings each week and 50% of weekends
