Great for concealed carry for four reasons: 1) its light weight does not discourage deep concealment (if you aren't comfortable with a carry gun, you are less likely to carry it always); 2) no external hammer to snag on your pocket or purse; 3) double action only, which decreases your liability potential when questioned by a plaintiff's attorney, should you be sued for use of excessive force in a high stress situation; and 4) it shoots a great many specially designed self-defense loads built for low flash, low recoil, and bullet expansion at lower velocities from short barrels.
There are a lot of aftermarket accessories for the J-frame, including concealment holsters, grips, and lasers.
This model does NOT have the internal locking system. Gun comes with carry case, cable lock, and all factory papers.
And it's quality S&W for a few dollars more, compared to Taurus or Charter Arms.
This is the venerable "J" frame S&W which has been around since the 1950s and their famous "Chief's Special" model. This one has a lightweight aluminum frame and stainless steel barrel and cylinder, which deters corrosion from body salts. Rated for +P hotter loads. Weighs 14.4 oz unloaded.
This "Pro" model has the cylinder specially cut for "moon clips" (3 included), which facilitates extremely fast reloading. Of course, the gun can also be loaded by the traditional methods of one-at-a-time, speed strips, and speed loaders.
Great carry gun for the woods because of the widely available snake shot loads. Will easily take a coyote at close range.
