The Ampeg VH-140C is renowned as a high gain beast. While great for metal and anything requiring high gain, it is a very versatile amp with a very responsive clean channel. Built in reverb and chorus, too. Versatile connections including effects loop (on front). Back panel pics posted, too.
I own this head and two combo versions of this amp. I am keeping one combo and letting this head and one other combo go. I have been able to get some great Van Halen tones out of this amp and a lot of guitarists have asked me what tube amp I was using. To the surprise of most, this is a solid state amp made by Ampeg around 1990. Crate bought out Ampeg in the early 90s and since then the Ampeg name has been on bass amps only. I have no doubt that if you are playing rock, this is the best amp you can buy for under $400. And it does sound great thru the Marshall 1960A cab you see in the pic. I'm selling that, too.
