1991 Chevrolet 3500 4x4 with 44” Vermeer TS44 Tree Spade. This is an opportunity to save money by planting your own trees, or make money by doing work for others.
The truck is 4WD 1 ton with dual rear wheels and a 4 speed manual transmission and 454 motor. The hydraulic motor for the spade is engine mounted. The truck has air bag suspension, towing mirrors, counter-balance front weight, and excellent load range E tires.
The spade performs well and comes with an extra set of blades. If you have never used a tree spade before, I can show you how – I planted some trees on my farm and did a little work for neighbors – it is not hard. It is a quick way to establish a shelterbelt around your house or shelter for your cattle.
A big opportunity exists in replacing all the Kansas pine trees that are dying from disease with cheap and easy to find cedars which are better acclimated to our state. I planted a lot of these, but find that I just don’t have time to do it much anymore. Of course you can do hardwood trees too, but that should be done in winter.
The spade has a water tank, pump, and spigots for dry soils, but I really never had to use it.
This truck will be able to maneuver into places (backyards, etc.) that a spade mounted on a tandem truck or semi would never be able to get into; and driving it is as easy as driving a pickup. $15,000
